Placencia Village is located in southern Belize at the tip of a 16 mile long and 1/4 mile wide peninsula. It is bordered by the beautiful Caribbean Sea and beach to the east and the Placencia Lagoon, a Caribbean inlet to its west. Placencia Village's population is approximately 1200. It is increasingly becoming a popular tourist destination and settlement area of North Americans, who are attracted by to its white sandy beaches, warm climate and close proximity to World's the second largest barrier reef. Placencia waters are a favorite of scuba divers and snorkelers with an average water temperature is 84 degrees F. Guests can enjoy scuba instruction and scuba or snorkel water tours. In the spring whale sharks migrate to waters near Placencia. Divers and snorkelers can swim with a 40 ft long fish! Lodging within Placencia Village offers guests a village atmosphere. There is no need for a vehicle or frequent taxis. People walk or bicycle to beach cafe's and bars, restaurants, grocery stores, banks and a variety of shops.
